Closed consultation Proposals for a Pension Schemes Bill - equality impact assessment

Summary

In order to comply with its obligations under section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, the Department has undertaken an EQIA on proposals which, subject to Ministerial agreement and Executive approval, may be brought forward in a Pension Schemes Bill.

Consultation description

It is anticipated that the proposed Bill will:

• introduce new definitions to the legislative framework for private pensions based on the type of promise that pension schemes provide for members during the accumulation phase
• include measures to enable the provision of collective benefits
• make amendments to existing pensions legislation
