Lisburn Laganbank Quarter Development Scheme comes one step closer: Morrow

Social Development Minister, Lord Morrow MLA, has today announced the appointment of a consultancy team to progress work on bringing forward a Development Scheme for the Laganbank Quarter area of Lisburn City.
Arup and Partners Limited, Belfast, has been awarded the contract to provide support and progress this major project.
Minister Morrow said: “Officials from my Department and Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council have been working together for the past number of years to develop and deliver a series of proposals for the Laganbank area of Lisburn.
“To ensure that we deliver a scheme that meets the future needs of the people of Lisburn, I am pleased to announce that Consultants, Arup and Partners Limited have been appointed to take forward this important piece of work. This will inform how the Laganbank Quarter will transform over the coming years to the benefit of everyone living, working and visiting the City of Lisburn.”
The Department for Social Development is providing approximately £33,000 towards this important project. This work emerges from the Laganbank Quarter Development Scheme proposals, intended to redevelop the Laganbank Quarter area of Lisburn City over the next 20 years. Arup Limited will:-
· Review current land usage;
· Develop an acquisition strategy;
· Conduct a soft market test; and
· Deliver proposals for progressing the Development Scheme.
Minister Morrow added: “This is another critical step in the journey for Lisburn City. The enriched environmental improvements that this Development Scheme will bring will encourage much needed investment in the area, which in turn will bring increased social and economic prosperity. This is a fantastic opportunity for the new Council.”

The future delivery of the ambitious plans will be of regional significance and really make a difference to our City for future generations.
