The Licensing (Notice relating to Restaurants and Guesthouses) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022 - screening
Date published:
The Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 (the Licensing Order) regulates the retail sale of alcoholic drinks to the public by prescribing the kinds of premises which may be granted a liquor licence by the courts. Article 51 of the Licensing Order imposes conditions on licences granted to restaurants and guesthouses which carry on the business of a restaurant.
The aim of this policy is to require a notice to be placed on the premises detailing conditions that apply to the sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks in licensed restaurants. This is to reinforce with licence holders that alcoholic drinks may only be sold and consumed as ancillary to a main table meal and ensure awareness among the public.
