The Universal Credit (Transitional Provisions) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2024 - screening
Date published:
The policy was revised as the result of a Judicial Review and a subsequent appeal by the Department for Work and Pensions which was refused. This is a positive change being made to regulations and applies to claimants who move to Universal Credit, following a change in their circumstances, from a ‘legacy’ benefit for which they were entitled to the Severe Disability Premium (SDP) and other ‘legacy’ disability related premia.
The change to regulations will provide new eligible claimants, who are eligible for SDP transitional protection, with additional amounts of transitional protection to broadly cover the other disability premia they were entitled to in their ‘legacy’ benefit.
