The Department has launched a ‘Call for Views’ by way of an online survey to obtain input from the public and stakeholders on the published Irish Language Strategy Expert Advisory Panel’s Recommendations Report. The information gathered will help inform the development of a strategy for an Irish Language Strategy.
The ‘Call for Views’ can be completed online in English or Irish via the links at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, written responses can be provided by downloading and completing the Word documents below. Easy Read and Children and Young People’s surveys shall shortly be available. Responses prepared in these formats should be sent to the email or postal address provided within the document.
The report presents recommendations in relation to five key sections: Vision and Context; the basis of any Irish Language Strategy; Aims, Objectives and Outcomes; Action Areas; Implementation. Within the Actions Areas section, the report has further outlined a number of recommendations organised into nine key themes: Irish Language Legislation and Status; Public Services; Education; Irish Language Transmission in the Family – Early Intervention; The Irish Language and the Community; Young People; Media, Publications and Technology; Economic Life; Research. It is upon these key sections and action areas that the survey is seeking input.
Following analysis of the responses received, the Department for Communities will publish a report on the departmental website, which will outline feedback received and the next steps. This will also feed into the development process for a draft strategy.
