Givan announces £5.2million funding boost for Enniskillen
Date published:
Communities Minister Paul Givan has announced a new major public realm scheme for Enniskillen Town Centre.
The Department for Communities is investing approximately £4.7million in this project with a further £500,000 being provided by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
Improvement works including paving, landscaping, street lighting and furniture will be delivered on a number of streets to further enhance the town centre, building on the recently completed Castle Basin Project and revitalisation scheme.
Minister Givan said: “Enniskillen Town Centre is a popular destination and has a lot to offer tourists, visitors and shoppers. This investment will considerably improve the appearance and appeal of the town, making it a more attractive place for people to work, visit and spend more time, and therefore helping to promote the vitality of businesses and services provided in Enniskillen.
“This scheme has been identified as the highest regeneration priority for Enniskillen addressing issues of pedestrian movement, safety and traffic circulation within the town centre.
“I am delighted that my Department and the Council have once again been able work together to deliver improvements for Enniskillen Town Centre.”
The Department for Communities is currently working with Fermanagh & Omagh District Council to appoint a Team who will be responsible for taking this outline stage through to implementation. The scheme will be delivered over the next three financial years, subject to confirmation as part of the budget settlement.
