River notice 17-24

Notice is hereby given that Drift NI have been given permission to erect a temporary floating event space linked to the existing downstream pontoons at Stranmillis Weir.

Navigation information - Pontoons at Stranmillis - 19 August - 16 September 2024

The event space will be constructed utilising 3 Nr. 8m x 3m connected pontoons as per the attached plan. The pontoon will be lit during the hours of darkness and a line of warning buys will be in place 30m downstream from the pontoons.

River users should note that the three pontoons will be craned into the river at Ravenhill Reach and will be towed up to Stranmillis Weir between 0800hrs and 1200hrs on Monday 19 August. River users are advised to be vigilant for this towing operation and give all vessels involved a wide berth.

Once on location the pontoons will be rigged and will stay in position until 16 September and then will be moved back to Ravenhill Reach, a further river notice will be issued at this stage.

The River Warden’s boat will be on duty to ensure that river users comply with the River Lagan Tidal Navigation and General Byelaws (NI) 2007 applicable to this Notice.
